The tea itself is the result of the careful selection of soil, fertilizer, and water, right up to the characteristic deep steam process. As it is a tea which is both gifted, and dedicated to, Ise Grand Shrine, it is a prize product.

Company established in 1887. It is a tea brand which is offered for sale by Hosuien (tea shop), a well-established tea store that has been blessed with the honor of being the tea purveyor to Ise Grand Shrine. Sencha Meijin Kentarou was awarded as a Special Selection in the Hosting Souvenir Selection 2017 awards. Sencha Meijin Kentarou has been made by the carefully selected first pick leaves and stalks. This product is an assortment of Sencha Meijin Kentarou and Meijin Kentarou Hojicha. It is a well-known tea brand named after tea ceremony specialist Meijin (Master) Kentarou who was conferred with the Order of the Sacred Treasure (4th class, Gold Rays with Rosette) and the Japanese government’s Medal of Honor (yellow ribbon). It has been made by carefully selected first pick tea leaves and as such it has been named after Meijin and we have an exclusive contract with a tea plantation. The tea itself is the result of the careful selection of soil, fertilizer, and water, right up to the characteristic deep steam process. With just cold water you can be satisfied with the fresh sweetness of the tea, and with hot water a rich umami and mellow aroma become immediately apparent. The specially made paulownia box also gives it a feeling of it being produced to a high standard. As it is a tea which is both gifted, and dedicated to, Ise Grand Shrine, it is a prize product.

Gourmet's Comments

It is a perfect tea, which conveys a special feeling along with a great taste and appearance. The aroma it gives off is great, and it is easy to drink. It is a new kind of tea gift which I haven’t seen before. (Real Estate Agent - Secretary - 7 years)

It was the first time that I have drunk Hojicha tea in cold water - it was so delicious! Hearing that it is the tea purveyor for Ise Grand Shrine makes it very special, and it is really great that it is a long-lasting tea. The bag that this product comes in is really good, it seems like it was especially chosen for this purpose. (Wholesale, Retailer - Secretary - 13 years 7 months)

It is quite the rarity, and always leads to a lot of talk, for example that this Hojicha tea can be drunk in cold water. What a gift! The wooden box has a lovely luxurious feeling. It is a gift which you will be glad to receive, or give to someone. (Real Estate Agent - Secretary - 5 years, 6 months)
